Galileo's head was on the block
the crime was looking up the truth
and as the bombshells of my daily fears explode
I try to trace them to my youth
And then you had to bring up reincarnation
over a couple of beers the other night
and now I'm serving time for mistakes
made by another in another lifetime
How long till my soul gets it right
can any human being ever reach that kind of light
I call on the resting soul of Galileo
King of night vision, King of insight
And then I think about my fear of motion
which I never could explain
some other fool across the ocean years ago
must have crashed his little airplane
How long til my soul gets it right
can any human being ever reach that kind of light
I call on the resting soul of galileo
King of night vision, King of insight
I'm not making a joke, you know me
I take everything so seriously
if we wait for the time til all souls get it right
then at least I know there'll be no nuclear annihilation
in my lifetime
I'm still not right
I offer thanks to those before me
that's all I've got to say
'cause maybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime
now I have to pay
But then again it feels like some sort of inspiration
to let the next life off the hook
but she'll say "look what I had to overcome from my last life"
I think I'll write a book
How long til my soul gets it right
can any human being ever reach the highest light
except for Galileo God rest his soul
(except for the resting soul of Galileo)
King of night vision, King of insight
How long
till my soul gets it right
til we reach the highest light
How long
till my soul gets it right
til we reach the highest light
How long

Madonna & Guy Ritchie tackle Mother Nature to premiere Revolver
Monday, December 03, 2007
(NEW YORK) Biting temperatures, freezing rain, and the first winter snow did little to prevent a star-studded regiment from faithfully attending a screening of Revolver Sunday night, hosted by The Cinema Society and Piaget. Of course, with hosts like Guy Ritchie, the film's director, and his wife (otherwise known as Madonna), anything less than a smashing parade of A-listers would be disappointing. Liza Minnelli, Tina Brown, Calvin Klein and Kelly Klein, Eva Amurri, Ivanka Trump, and Aerin Lauder were just some of the names who cheerfully packed the Tribeca Grand screening for the intense and existential two-hour film centered around an egotistical hotshot gambler. Inside, Josh Groban kept himself warm with house cocktails while the always-weather appropriate Helen Schifter arrived in a full skiing ensemble. "I've tried to fill the room with as many big egos as possible!" joked event producer Andrew Saffir.
That fact alone may have finally contributed to Ritchie's understanding of his own complex film about success and forgiveness, not to mention the id. "I swear, after seeing this film a bloody 50 times, I finally understood it, thanks to this audience perhaps," the director, clad in Ralph Lauren, confessed, before turning his attention to his famous date. "Look at this woman. She looks incredible tonight! I've learned a lot from her fashion sense. Like not to wear the same dresses as her!"
Madonna instantly returned the compliments with a warm smile. "I love Guy's confidence and his director's charm" she gushed. "The first time I met him, I was most certainly intrigued by his masculinity. He's my wonderful disciplinarian. The scar on his neck is one of my favorite things about him. I thought he got into a fight or something when we started dating. He's so amazing with the kids; he's also mellow and a Virgo of course. I couldn't be happier being with him tonight."
Barbara Walters revealed her own measured risk-taking tendencies following the screening. "I don't gamble," she smiled. "But I'm very lucky in slot machines though. You'll see me playing a quarter at a time and sometimes I win a whole $1.50." Sarah Jessica Parker, meanwhile, was thankful that she gave herself a relaxing night off. "I put on a mishmash of things from my closet to come out tonight," she offered. "I'm so glad I did; the film was simply extraordinary!" Zac Posen, on the other hand, chatted about his upcoming holiday plans, which include going skiing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. "I'm this city kid who's been put on top of a mountain and expected to slide down," he said. "But there is a sense of adrenaline, fear, and almost lack of control in some ways, which is always appealing to me."
Other revelers at the after-party at the Gramercy Park Hotel included Zani Gugelmann, David Blaine, Hana Soukupova, Maggie Rizer, Christopher Meloni, and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana--in town to celebrate their new Madison Avenue flagship and to host their own dinner on the rooftop Tuesday night--who enjoyed risotto, steak, and a dessert buffet while relishing more face time with the evening's most prominent couple. The night's most unexpected cameo, however, belonged to Yankee star Alex Rodriguez. "I'm just here by accident," he explained. "I'm wearing a suit and everything, but I just slipped in to say hello to Guy. He's a fantastic friend and filmmaker. I'm not quite sure about his baseball skills though!"
"This party is nuts!" exclaimed Ingrid Casares in regards to the party's tight guest list. "I can't even bring my plus one inside! Can someone help me?" She was immediately aided by security, who made sure Madonna's gal pal and her guest soon joined the singer's posse that included everyone from Steven Klein (whom she couldn't stop hugging) to the film's stars Jason Statham and Vincent Pastore, who performed in Chicago on Broadway earlier in the evening. "I'm a happy man tonight to be with Madonna, who is my true icon and muse," Gabbana said sheepishly. "And I love snow--mostly on the mountain and not so much in towns--but tonight feels romantic and upbeat."
As the night slowly drew to a close, Madonna found new company to discuss the piercing film with, in the form of Donna Karan. "So, are you ready to lie down after witnessing all of that?" she asked. "I'm afraid to watch my own thoughts after watching the film!" Karan replied. "I'm telling you, Satan is always there, playing with your head! You never know when he's going to show up!"
VALENTINE UHOVSKI
Seize upon the moment of long ago
One breath away and there you will be
So young and carefree again you will see
That place and time
So gold
Steal away into that way back when
You thought that all would last forever
But like the weather nothing can ever
And be in time
Stay gold
But can it be ... when we can see
So vividly a memory
And yes you say so lost a day
To fade away
And leave a ray of sun
So gold
Life ... is but a twinkling of an eye
Yet filled with sorrow and compassion
Though not imagined all things that happen
Will age too old
Though gold
